Andy Hernandez

Andy is an associate attorney in the firm’s litigation department, where he focuses on complex commercial litigation in federal district court, state court and international and domestic arbitration tribunals. Andy completed his undergraduate degree in Political Science at Florida International University in 2016. Following his undergraduate studies, Andy attended Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 2019.

During law school, Andy served as a clinical student in Northwestern’s Investor Protection Center and United States Supreme Court Clinic, where he counseled investors with limited financial resources in arbitration proceedings against financial professionals who were alleged to have breached their obligations to clients and where he aided a team of Sidley Austin LLP attorneys in the drafting of briefs that were submitted to the United States Supreme Court.

Prior to joining the firm, Andy worked as an associate attorney at a reputable litigation firm in Coral Gables where he focused primarily on pre-trial phase advocacy on behalf of large, institutional clients in federal

district court, state court and arbitration proceedings.

Andy then served as a Federal Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Aileen M. Cannon of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. During his clerkship, Andy managed Judge Cannon’s civil case docket, drafted substantive orders in diverse civil disputes, and conferred with Judge Cannon on a daily basis to evaluate legal questions and whether to grant relief sought by litigants. Andy also analyzed competing briefs submitted by litigants prior to motion hearings to advise Judge Cannon and attended motion hearings to record arguments raised by counsel, as well as any relevant case information addressed during hearings.

Andy joined Carey Rodriguez Milian, LLP, as an associate attorney following the completion of this Federal Judicial Clerkship with Judge Cannon.
